My inspiration/ My Mum
This last month has been a very hard time for me, my mum was taken ill and I left everything to be with her in India. Due to medical complications we lost our mum on the 31st of July 2014.
She was courageous and always stood up for the right of the underdog. She served as a Teacher and head of the Urdu department in her college. She was the church organist in our little village for over 30 years. Our house was full of young women whom she guided and help support against domestic violence.
Her own dream was to have a small school for the poor children in India. She used to say once you finish your film, you come and help me and she had a plan.
With her gone I have a long road ahead and I hope and pray that I can see that through.
The last thing she said to me was not to ever give up on my dreams! She was my inspiration, my biggest supporter – my best friend.
A short excerpt from her favourite passage, Corinthians Chapter 13.
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
